How to Use the Records

A partial controlling register is in series NTRS 4374. Mineral claims North (NTRS 4266) and Mineral Claims Central (NTRS 4219) record the more complete details for each tenement number recording security, name of tenement, status of land, survey plan number, area, locality, map reference, registered holder, details of transfers, minerals concerned, date renewed to, date of gazette, instrument issued, authority to occupy issued, date and time lodged, former title registration, number and encumbrances.

This series consists of application files for mineral claims (MC), outside proclaimed field (OPF) in the Northern Territory. The file cover has date application received, subject (name of mine or person names in application) locality, area of claim, dates for objection, hearing, recommended, approved or refused, gazetted, posted, application plotted, map number, if forfeited or withdrawn. Each file contains the application for registration of a mining tenement other than a lease with a sketch of the area being applied for and measurements in chains, any objections received, whether the application is approved or not, rental payments, and general correspondence.
